We’re honored to share that Our Katahdin has been recognized as the 2025 Maine Investor of the Year by the Maine International Trade Center, with a heartfelt thank-you to CIANBRO for nominating us for this meaningful recognition.
This award celebrates more than just investment – it affirms the hard work, shared vision, and partnerships that are driving long-term economic revitalization in Millinocket and beyond.
Over the past several years, Our Katahdin has committed more than $30 million to restoring and modernizing infrastructure across our 1,400-acre site. This effort lays the foundation for a new generation of sustainable industries rooted in innovation, clean energy, and regional resilience.
We’ve made significant strides toward that future. Today, the site is powered by on-site renewable energy, including solar infrastructure from Greenbacker and hydropower from Brookfield Renewable. These clean energy resources are essential as we prepare to welcome future tenants who are focused on sustainability and long-term growth.
We are proud to work in close partnership with the Town of Millinocket, sharing a vision for a stronger local economy and sustainable development. The momentum we’ve achieved would not be possible without the dedication and support of many regional, state, and federal partners who believe in this work.
We’re deeply grateful for the commitment of our funders and collaborators, including:
US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), ELMINA B SEWALL FOUNDATION, Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC), Maine Technology Institute, Maine Development Foundation, Finance Authority of Maine, Maine Department of Economic and Community Development, Eastern Maine Development Corporation, Midsouth Engineering Inc, Sevee & Maher Engineers Inc., Maine Community Foundation, Bangor Savings Bank, US Economic Development Administration (EDA), Maine Department of Transportation, Maine Department of Environmental Protection, and many more.
This journey has not been simple or quick—but it is worth it. Revitalizing a legacy industrial site takes time, persistence, and collective effort. We believe deeply in what’s possible when people come together around a shared vision.
As we look ahead, we remain committed to building a future that brings opportunity, resilience, and pride back to the Katahdin region.
It takes time.
It takes commitment.
It takes all of us.
Thank you to everyone walking this path with us. We invite you to take a look at this short video that captures our progress and our promise.
